Seminar 56: Advances in Compressor Bearing Technology

Bearings are critical components to compressors. HVAC applications impose unique requirements on the bearings used for the compressors. This seminar gives an overview of the different types of compressor bearings for HVAC&R applications. Then it will give a more in-depth look into three different types of bearings.

Seminar 57:  Centrifugal Machines in Unusual/Niche Applications

This seminar will discuss some unique applications of centrifugal machines. We'll begin by discussing some fundamental questions that should go into selecting a centrifugal machine and how often times, there is more to a selection than the lowest efficiency. Then, we'll discuss an example of both an unusual and niche application for centrifugal machines and some benefits and challenges to both of these applications.

Seminar 69: Fundamentals of Centrifugal Chillers

Have you ever wondered exactly how that centrifugal chiller works? We'll walk through the basics of centrifugal chiller operation and function, including component and overall system efficiency and help you understand the most common applications for a centrifugal chiller.  Then we'll discuss the possible applications for centrifugal chillers, how to size a chiller to get the best efficiency and cost for your application.  Well discuss what happens to the operation and efficiency of the compressor, evaporator and condenser with varying loads and lift conditions.  After determining your operating conditions, we'll dive into which compressor, motor, and starter to choose.

ALL ASHRAE committee meetings, including this TC’s meetings at the Winter and Annual Society conferences, are open to the public at no cost nor is conference registration required. Interested visitors, local chapter members, and potential new TC members are always welcome. However to attend technical program sessions sponsored by the TC will require registration and payment of any applicable fee.
